Timbaland's "Give It To Me"

Sadly the track has leaked but you will not be hearing it here. I will not post it, will not have a link to it, and will not promote it unless told otherwise. Why? Because it was not meant to be heard......yet. Sure we're all Timbo fans, stans actually, so why wouldn't we have enough respect for Tim as a musician and an artist not to leak a track he didn't want leaked?

We're not talking about some throw away track or some unmastered freestyle, this track has the 2 biggest artists of 2006, Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake over a beat by the best producer of '06. This track was thought out and strategically chosen to be the first single yet here it is being passed around the net without permission or knowledge by the one who made it.

Now I'm not getting into the politics of it, I have no idea what happened. All I know is I'm a Timbaland fan and I got enough respect for him and his craft not to promote a piece of music he was not ready to share with the world. I'm not looking for controversy and I'm not looking to argue. Just my 2 cents that's all.

well it happens and to be honest people are saying nowadays that they didnt "mean " for it to leak when in reality they want people talking about it. and buzzing about it. thats what happened with the jay z single. its actually pretty smart. but true fans will still hear the song AND buy it. i feel that the people who read this blog are true fans and support timbo. and me personally im a producer so i def understand that issues with people bootlegging and not buying albums. but i still want to hear it cause im a FAN FIRST LOL

That's cool of you not to post it. However, for me not to listen to it is like denying a winning lottery ticket, haha. I just listened to it twice and am totally in LOVE w/ this track. This might be one of those albums I buy two copies of for no reason whatsoever, like I did w/ Nelly Furtado's CD.

I was talking to Sebastian earlier and I told him it leaked, and he told Timbo who was wandering around at the time - and Timbo said it was ok.

Sorry, mate, I think you're being a bit hypocrite now. I don't know if it comes with your new.. a bit arrogant way of behaving (cause now you're this "insider").

But when you say that you don't want to post this song because you think that Timbaland "doesn't meant this to be heard yet" and you want to respect Timbaland as a musician. Does this mean then that we all, who downloaded the ripped version, don't respect Tim? And what about all the other leaked tracks before.. you didn't download them, right, cause you have so much respect for Timbaland? Like Alex Niedt said here too, we true Timbaland fans are most likely gonna buy this album no matter if we have downloaded the tracks before. It's so much easier to say that it is so bad that the track leaked if you already own the song (I assume you own it as HQ).

And just to make clear.. I'm not hating you, man. I got a lot respect for you. And I understand why you couldn't post it here. But I must say, your new way of behaving annoys me a little.

Cool everybody thanks for the responses. I really appreciate them!

If someone wants to rip a track that's their choice. I've done it many many times! If someone wants to spread it around or post it that's also their choice but the difference is the outcome.

If you rip an artist's track but keep it for yourself are you respecting that artist? What if you rip it and post it for others to have? What if the artist told you not to post the track but you could still rip it?

Johnboy I'm sorry you feel the way you do. I'm not an "insider" in any way. I don't know Tim or anyone in his camp. I'm simply a fan who writes about my favorite producer in music. My version of the track is not HQ (unless I'm deaf) it's the same as everyone's elses. I don't judge anyone for what they do who am I to do that. I'm a fan just like everyone else no more no less.

Again thanks for the responses everyone. I knew this would be a interesting topic.
