The Timbaland Snub

So the Grammy nominations were announced yesterday and all I can say is where the heck is Timbaland? Dude WAS 2006 plain and simple. Now I'm not going to go bad mouth anyone in the game as the music industry is already in pretty bad shape but that's even more reason to honor someone who changes how we hear music.

I've prided myself on keep The Chronicles as opinion free as possible and instead let the information, news, music, samples etc speak for itself but whether you like or dislike Tim, one thing everyone can agree on is Timbaland is a music revolutionary. He's taken and continues to take music where no one thought they could take it.

Now here in 2006 with all this repetitive and boring "hits" we call music, Tim (and some may argue Danja) took us on a journey away from the norm yet again. This time with his brilliance in tow, he took POP music of all things and created yet another way we listen to it. Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous" and Justin Timberlake's "My Love" fit no category yet they were both #1 songs of the year. He created a brand new sound for both of them and diversied their sound to the point of experimental.

He also did it with Danity Kane and The Pussycat Dolls and just when you thought Tim had completely gone pop, at the end of the year he comes HARD with Snoop's "Get A Light" and Jeezy's "3AM" just to remind us he can still make them bangin' rap tracks. Am I biased? Of course but come on T Bone Burnett gets the nod over Timbo? Can you name a T Bone Burnett track?

Despite the obvious snub the the best part is 2007 is commin': new Tim album, Keri Hilson, D.O.E, Bjork, M.I.A, Sebastian, and even more Tim sonic stew. My ears are excited!

yo j-boogie..yeah you...let me tell u something stupid, the reason why timbaland didn;t get nominated because his label didn't nominate him. MMG has to put him in the mix of possible nominees. you sound like scott storch last year

I agree with you J, but to my knowledge Tim has never been nominated for producer of the year. I think I'm more upset because of that than anything. Truth be told too, JD should have been nominated. I like his music sometimes, but you can't deny how many times you heard "yall know who this is" during 2006. But maybe '07 will be the year that Tim gets nominated. Remember how pissed everyone was when the Neptunes weren't nominated in '03 and then they were nominated in '04?

Wow, will.i.am was nominated but not Timbaland. What a poor job they did on that. "It's Goin Down" and "Smack That" were nominated for grammys? What a shame.

Awww...this is too bad. I'd love to see Tim get the Grammy he deserves. And Czar, I agree JD deserves a nod. I dig pretty much anything he does, and he knows how to bang out hits.

As for will.i.am., his stuff's fun sometimes, but come on...not at all in the same league.

When shit like We Run This and Grillz gets nominations does it really matter? Surely it won't have hurt Tim's pride! lol

Who cares, it's just a grammy, that doesn't mean anything.
